Building a dream home may seem impossible with so many other financial responsibilities – especially if you’re nearing retirement, but one couple had the dream and made it possible by working with their personal Money Coach, even when several major obstacles blocked their way.

Cherie and her husband were in their 50s and 60s, when they bought some property and planned on building the perfect house for their fast-approaching retirement.  But dreams of a beautiful home quickly faded when Cherie’s husband got an aneurysm.  Cherie said, “After a financially devastating medical emergency, resulting in a drastic reduction of our income, I needed help to regain confidence and develop a plan that we could live with.  I was feeling lost and hopeless when I contacted MSA.”

After just a short while of working with a Money Coach, Cherie’s outlook began to change:  “By the second meeting with my Money Coach, I was feeling like the dark clouds were breaking up, and I could see a bit of blue sky.  By the third meeting, I was able to get a grip on our finances and develop a plan, not only to budget our monthly bills but to be able to be out of debt in as little as 3 years, [improving our credit score] all the while!”

Even new challenges couldn’t stop them from moving forward.  A month into the program, Cherie was notified of possible identity theft.  “I received a call from a creditor that someone was attempting to set up a credit card in my name.  I was panicked and contacted my coach immediately.  He was able to guide me to the resources I needed to secure my personal accounts and freeze my credit.”  No matter what arose, their Money Coach, Chad, was on hand to help point them in the right direction.

Through personal consultations, roadblocks became obstacles that Cherie and her husband could overcome, moving them towards a better financial future:

  • A debt problem with no foreseeable end became a goal that would soon be crossed off the list, no longer holding them back from their dreams.
  • The problem of every day expenses transformed into a more successful budget with $250-300.00 left over at the end of each month, which could then go towards building savings and meeting dream home expenses.
  • They even got the added bonus of improving their credit score as they continued on their financial journey.

During their time together, Chad could really see a change in Cherie and her husband.  He said, “We established monthly goals within their budget that allowed for balance between monthly expenses, enrichment/entertainment, and the priority of debt elimination.  As we worked together, I could hear the peace-of-mind become audible in Cherie’s voice.”

Cherie was excited to share about her own positive experience with her Money Coach:  “Chad is a patient and helpful professional.  He really knows his stuff.  He was able to make it all make sense and could explain everything in terms I could understand.  He brought some personal experiences into the lessons and really made me feel like I was talking to a friend.”

Unforeseen medical issues can hurt a family, not just physically and emotionally, but financially as well.  A Money Coach can work with you during a setback and help make finances one less thing to worry about.  If you want a Money Coach to help you reach your dreams and move past obstacles standing in your way, call 888-724-2326 today.
